Our Practitioners

Sarah Richards, LMSW, RYT 200

Hi! I'm Sarah (she, her, they) and I'm so excited you found Ananda Wellness. I hold a BA in Social Policy from Michigan State University and a MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

With 19 years of practice, I have found my passion for working with individuals living with trauma and anxiety disorders often with co-occurring depression.

My focus is inspired by my work with communities, agencies, and individuals to address systemic issues of racism, social inequity, institutional betrayal, and community disconnection.

Erin Smith, PhD

Hello, my name is Erin. I hold a BS in Psychology from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA and a MA in Theology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary, Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, CA.

I've been practicing for over 20 years providing clinical care for individuals with a wide range of mental health symptoms. My area of specialty is the assessment and treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and co-morbid disorders including Major Depressive Disorder and other Anxiety Disorders.

I have an interest in understanding the protective factors, especially spirituality, in mediating trauma responses. As a researcher, I have focused on the use and effectiveness of interventions for PTSD, particularly Prolonged Exposure therapy. This research has examined the mechanisms of Prolonged Exposure as well as the modification of the intervention to facilitate provision in a group format.

Kathleen Hodges, BS, RN, CHt

Hello, I’m Kathleen. With 37 years in nursing, I have acquired certifications in reflexology and clinical hypnosis.

In reflexology, clients have the opportunity to relax and de-stress, encouraging an internal equilibrium as I focus on the glands, organs and parts of the body represented as reflexes in the feet and hands. The goals are to improve circulation, increase nutrients and oxygen to the cells and restore balance to help the body heal itself.

As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I work with clients to recognize limiting beliefs and behaviors, empowering them to achieve positive personal lifestyle changes on their journeys to well-being. Hypnosis is a powerful tool when applied to managing stress, reducing anxiety, pain management, body awareness, study skills, sport and exercise motivation, smoking cessation, fears, phobias, relaxation practice and more.

My certifications are from state licensed schools in Michigan:  Branch Reflexology Institute and Clinical Hypnosis Institute. I have national board certification in foot reflexology from the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB) and certification as a  Reflexology Lymph Drainage Practitioner (RLD).

Betsy Black, LMSW

Hi! I’m Betsy (she/her/hers) and I’m excited to share a little about myself with you. I have my BS in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Western Michigan University and my MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

I have been practicing clinical social work for over 19 years and am passionate about helping people overcome barriers they face in becoming the best versions of themselves and reaching their goals.

My focus has been driven by the interplay of recovery and rehabilitation, seeing first hand how employment impacts recovery and recovery impacts employment. Finding our passion and purpose can be scary but rewarding.
