Our Practitioners

Sarah Richards, LMSW, RYT 200

Hi! I'm Sarah (she, her, they) and I'm so excited you found Ananda Wellness. I hold a BA in Social Policy from Michigan State University and an MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

Within 15 years of practice, I have found my passion for working with individuals living with trauma and anxiety disorders often with co-occurring depression.

My focus is inspired by my work with communities, agencies, and individuals to address systemic issues of racism, social inequity, institutional betrayal, and community disconnection.

Erin Smith, PhD

Hello, my name is Erin. I hold a BS in Psychology from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA and a MA in Theology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary, Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, CA

I've been practicing for over 16 years providing clinical care for individuals with a wide range of mental health symptoms. My area of specialty is the assessment and treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and co-morbid disorders including Major Depressive Disorder and other Anxiety Disorders.

I have an interest in understanding the protective factors, especially spirituality, in mediating trauma responses. As a researcher, I have focused on the use and effectiveness of interventions for PTSD, particularly Prolonged Exposure therapy. This research has examined the mechanisms of Prolonged Exposure as well as the modification of the intervention to facilitate provision in a group format.

Kathleen Hodges, BS, RN

Hello, I am Kathleen and I hold a certification in Clinical Foot and Hand Reflexology through the Branch Reflexology Institute. As a  Registered Nurse and member of the American Holistic Nurses Association, I apply this philosophy and approach in my practice as a Reflexologist. Recognizing stress as a contributor to illness, reflexology allows clients to relax and decrease tension, thus promoting vitality and well-being.

I am also a Reiki Master, Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT), with training in hypnotherapy and a member of ULC Ministries. I incorporate my years of experience as a mother, teacher and health care professional into my love of artistic expression in all forms and enjoy sharing opportunities to explore different mediums with others, whether in the garden or constructing a junk journal. My interests include mixed media, collage, photography, paper crafts, gardening and sewing. I believe that creating promotes healing.

Betsy Black, LMSW

Hi! I’m Betsy (she/her/hers) and I’m excited to share a little about myself with you. I have my BS in Psychology and Women’s Studies from Western Michigan University and my MSW from the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

I have been practicing clinical social work for over 15 years and am passionate about helping people overcome barriers they face in becoming the best versions of themselves and reaching their goals.

My focus has been driven by the interplay of recovery and rehabilitation, seeing first hand how employment impacts recovery and recovery impacts employment. Finding our passion and purpose can be scary but rewarding.
